Shannon was born in New Jersey and has always loved animals! Spending summers at the Jersey Shore inspired her love for the ocean and protecting marine life. From a young age, Shannon and her family had a wide variety of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, and lizards. Shannon attended Rutgers University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Marine and Coastal Sciences as well as minoring in Psychology and Informal Science Education. After university, she moved to Orlando, Florida to pursue her dream of working at SeaWorld. During her six years with the company, she held several positions within the Education Department. Next, Shannon moved across the country to work at the Monterey Bay Aquarium as the Tour Programs Supervisor. Some of the highlights from Shannon’s time at the Monterey Bay Aquarium include hosting proposal tours in front of the Kelp Forest and teaching people about African Penguins from inside their exhibit!
Shannon’s experience with animal behavior and guest service means she understands the importance of positive training experiences – for both animals and people! For nearly ten years, she has worked in the animal care industry teaching people about the importance of training and how it can improve the relationship between animals and people! In her free time, Shannon loves to spend time with her two cats while she binge watches her favorite series or dives into a good book. Koru K9 is a perfect fit for Shannon because she loves to help people who simply want the best training for their animal companions!
