Testimonials

We have a pack of five small, young, energetic dogs — each with their own personality and needs. We struggled to train them because their behaviors were so different, and each required a different approach. Things reached a breaking point when one of our dogs, Gidden, began trying to control his environment through aggression. He started biting and attacking the other dogs, us, and even our guests.

We put Gidden on anti-anxiety medication, which helped somewhat, but he was still unpredictable and lashed out daily. He was hurting us and the other dogs, and we felt like we were losing control. We even began to feel afraid of him, and we reluctantly started to consider that he might need a different home. But we love him dearly — he has the best smile — so we decided to try one last intervention: professional dog training.

We called Koru K9 and explained our situation. To our relief, they had a skilled trainer in our area who specialized in working with aggressive dogs – Will Greenway. Over five sessions, Will gave us a framework for understanding pack dynamics and taught us how to address each dog’s behavior individually with tailored strategies.

With Gidden, Will showed us how to teach impulse-control commands that prevent or quickly diffuse tense situations. The results have been incredible — Gidden is calmer, and his aggression has decreased significantly. Will also taught us effective techniques to reduce unwanted barking, jumping, and potty accidents.

The change in our household has been profound. The dynamics have shifted, and we now have the tools to maintain a calmer, more harmonious home. Thank you, Will!

We worked with Will Greenway to help with our staffie/husky/pit mix with some food aggression issues and overall puppy-ness.

His balanced approach really has made a difference in her obedience, especially on walks. She now heels on command and doesn’t pull. Recall is also better. We’re still working on the food agression, but he gave us some good exercises to help train her. (She was once homeless, so i think it’s pretty ingrained)

He’s a boisterous guy, so be ready for that, but it’s also a part of his training style so dogs get used to different people and energy. His explanations were very thorough on why we were doing things and the small nuances that come with communicating with your dog. He also helped identify the subtle (and not so subtle) signs your dog is giving and how to handle the particular situation to get more than superficial obedience.

Would recommend!

I worked with Ashley Nunez (Tacoma, WA) and she was absolutely fantastic. My dog Lupin struggles with reactivity on leash, low confidence, and separation anxiety. He has his own unique quirks that can make him a bit more challenging to work with at times, but Ashley approached everything with patience, understanding, and genuine care. She really took the time to set realistic expectations based on Lupin, our lifestyle, and she explained things in a way that made sense to me.

Over the course of about a month, she made amazing progress with him. She helped build his confidence in a way that really shows in his behavior — and just as importantly, she gave me the tools and confidence I needed to support him moving forward.

I used to dread going on walks with him because of his reactivity, but now I feel so much more confident. Lupin’s reactivity has become much more manageable. Whereas before he would get so lost in his reactivity that I had to physically drag him away from triggers to help him calm down, now if he reacts, it’s much smaller and he’s able to settle more quickly, and it continues to improve as we practice together.

Ashley was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind throughout the entire process. I can’t recommend her enough if you’re looking for someone who truly understands dogs and meets them where they’re at. She went above and beyond in answering my (many!) questions and supporting us every step of the way. Now I have a more confident and resilient dog, and our relationship has improved immensely.

Thanks Koru K9 & Ashley!

I went online to find a dog trainer for owners with aggressive dogs and came across Koru K9 and Will Greenway. I have had five sessions and a onboarding session all one hour each in Portland, Oregon. And it is really crazy how much my dog, Hughie, has improved. He can now walk on the same side of the sidewalk as other dogs. He now understands what we want from him. And Will says he mostly trains the humans and it’s honestly true. But if you do what he says to do each week your dog will definitely improve a lot. Will is great! This is definitely a great investment we are much more relaxed now and have more knowledge and understanding. Just book it!!

I took my 1 1/2 year old “hyper” aussie doodle, Gigi for a 3 week board and train with Irini. She sent photos and videos of training updates during her time…

Our dog Molly, an English springer spaniel, recently returned from a 3-week board and train with Sparky Davis and Koru K9. She is a different dog! Before she left, she pulled at the leash, charged at cars, and barked at people and other dogs. My mom, who is in her 70s, couldn’t walk her, and she pulled the leash out of the hands of my 9-year-old daughter and ran down the street. She is very well mannered now – she heels (absolutely no pulling at the leash or charging at cars), sits, stays in the down position, returns at the come command, and rarely barks. She will even sit in place on her dog bed while I wash dishes in the kitchen. And no more jumping on counters or on people. She was a nervous scaredy cat in new situations and now she is more confident because she knows what her job is. Sparky took great care of her while she was away. She was bathed regularly, well fed, and he even remembered to administer her flea medication. Sparky was communicative, sending us regular emails and texts with photos and videos, and helped us apply the training once she returned home. We are thrilled with the training and care our dog received with Sparky and would recommend him to anyone.
