For dogs with big behaviors, and families who won’t give up.
If the leash reactivity or aggression feels unfixable, we want you to know it’s not.
Rebuild trust. Create structure. Enjoy life with your dog again.
Living with an aggressive or reactive dog can feel isolating, stressful, and unpredictable. Lunging on leash, barking at strangers, guarding food or toys, or reacting to other dogs can quickly take the joy out of everyday life.
At Koru K9, we help Denver-area families resolve dog aggression and leash reactivity issues — including dog-to-dog reactivity, human-directed aggression, leash lunging and barking, resource guarding, fear-based behaviors, and more — using a relationship based, balanced training that works in real life.
Every dog — and every owner — is different. We design a custom training plan around your goals, your dog’s history, and your day-to-day environment, then apply the Koru K9 method to build clarity, structure, and a calm, trusting relationship.
Safety first: thoughtful setups, leash management, and muzzle acclimation—so training stays humane and safe.
Balanced, real-world methods: clear markers, structure, and pressure-and-release guidance to teach what to do—not just what not to do.
Home-based Board & Train: your dog lives in a trainer’s home and practices in real environments (sidewalks, parks, storefronts)—not a warehouse of kennels.
Small caseload, big focus: limited dogs per trainer for high-quality reps and attention.
Owner coaching: we train you, too—so results last at home and around the city.
Progress you can see: structured goals, video/photo updates, and step-by-step homework.
We work dogs through real-world scenarios like neighborhood sidewalks, city parks, trailheads, busy intersections, and everyday urban distractions. Whether your dog struggles around other dogs on walks, reacts to strangers in close quarters, or becomes overwhelmed in public spaces, we train where behavior actually matters.
We take a highly individualized approach to every dog and every owner. No cookie-cutter programs. No forced compliance. Just thoughtful, structured training designed to help your dog feel safe, confident, and capable in the real world.
Whether you’re here because training is court-ordered or because you just want to have guests over again without stress, you’re in the right place.
A calmer, more confident dog is closer than you think.
Ever wonder why quick-turn programs don’t work? It’s because they use forced compliance, creating unreliable behaviors that often lead to regression.
Our programs are different: we build trust, clarity and real-world readiness at a pace that respects your dog’s needs.
We use a balanced, relationship-first approach that blends:

Not always. Many leash-reactive dogs are frustrated or anxious, not truly aggressive. We evaluate your dog’s triggers and tailor a plan for neutral, calm behavior on leash.
It depends on severity and your schedule, and your comfort level. Many reactive dogs do well with a hybrid of immersive work plus owner coaching; we’ll recommend the best path after your evaluation. The most important thing to remember is you must remain consistent with training.
Yes. We pair rewards for good choices with fair, well-timed consequences for unwanted or unsafe behaviors. There is no one sized fits all approach when it comes to dog training. We do what is best for your dog.
We highly advocate for dogs to be muzzle trained to keep them and those around them safe. Even the “friendliest” of dogs can be pushed to their limit (think v-e-t). We acclimate your dog to a basket muzzle so outings stay safe and stress is reduced.
You’ll get practical safety strategies right away; durable change comes from consistent practice and coaching. We also recommend checking out LunaDogAI to help protect your training investment.

Yes. We regularly work with dogs that have bite histories or are enrolled in training as part of legal or court-related requirements.
