Stop Leash Reactivity Before It Stops You: How to Transform Your Walks

Ever feel like your dog “loses it” the moment you clip on the leash?
You’re not alone — and the good news is, leash reactivity can be fixed.

In this powerful conversation, Koru K9 co-founders Bridget and Ray team up with top Bay Area dog trainer Jeremy to break down why leash reactivity happens and, most importantly, how to stop it.

What Is Leash Reactivity — and Why Does It Happen?

Whether it’s fear, frustration, poor leash handling, or lack of early socialization, leash reactivity can look like:

  • Barking

  • Growling

  • Lunging

  • Avoiding or hiding

  • Shaking or trembling

  • Pinned-back ears

  • Whale eye (wide, tense eyes)

  • A tucked tail

Leash reactivity isn’t always the same as aggression — but if left unaddressed, it can escalate. Early recognition and action are key.

How to Recognize and Fix Leash Reactivity

In this episode, you’ll learn:

✅ How to spot early signs of leash reactivity before it spirals
✅ Why some dogs bark and lunge—and what they’re really trying to say
✅ The difference between reactivity and true aggression
✅ Practical, proven training techniques to stop leash reactivity—for good
✅ The right tools to support your training journey

Don’t Wait for Behavior to Get Worse

If you’re seeing signs of leash reactivity, early intervention is everything. The behavior will NOT just go away on its own.
Waiting only makes the problem harder (and more stressful for you and your dog).
