Koru K9 changed our lives! I have a two year old English Bulldog who at about the 18 month mark, started exhibiting reactive behavior. It was increasingly getting worse – walks became a nightmare, he would pull aggressively on his leash, barking and lunging at people and dogs. In the home, he would go wild when people came over, jumping on furniture, humping them, and I realized I stopped having people come over. It got to the point where I was not able to control him, so I reached out to Koru K9. The entire experience was great, from start to finish. Since coming home, I’ve been following all of the instructions, and walks are now such a pleasure – the neighbors have even made comments about his changed behavior, and in the house, he stays on his place pad when told. Thank you Koru K9, I now have the dog I’ve always wanted
Our most immersive training option, Board & Train gives your dog daily, structured work with a professional trainer. Perfect for any dogs from mild to severe behavior challenges, this program accelerates progress in a safe, consistent environment.
Your dog is one of a small group of dogs (1-5) living with our trainer in their home. During their stay, your dog will get plenty of exercise, training, play, and love. Throughout the program, you will receive two email updates per week that include pictures and/or videos.
After the program, there are follow-up sessions designed to help ensure your dog’s training continues at home, where it is critical you remain consistent to maximize the program’s results.

In-home dog training is a personalized approach to teaching your dog proper behavior and obedience right in the comfort of your home. Rather than attending group classes or sending your dog away for training, an expert in-home dog trainer comes to you, tailoring the lessons to suit your dog’s specific needs and environment.
During these sessions, trainers work closely with YOU — training you to train your dog. This is a very hands on program for the dog parent.
The beauty of in-home dog training lies in its convenience and effectiveness — no need to travel anywhere or adhere to set class schedules. Plus, being in familiar surroundings can help reduce stress and anxiety for both you and your dog during the learning process.
Give your puppy the best possible start in life with Koru K9’s puppy training programs in San Francisco. The moment your new puppy comes home, learning begins — and the habits you build now will shape their behavior for years to come.
Our programs focus on clear communication, structure, and confidence, helping you and your puppy form a calm, balanced relationship from day one. Using our proven relationship based training approach, we teach your puppy how to make good choices and respond to guidance — all through fair, positive, real-world interactions.

Relationship-based Balanced training philosophy – We blend positive reinforcement with clear communication so your dog understands exactly what’s expected. We do not adhere to any one methodology. Your dog is unique, and what works for one dog does not work for another. We like to say we “train the dog in front of us.”
Urban expertise – Trainers experienced in high-distraction environments—crowded sidewalks, parks, cafés, apartments. Your dog will take field trips and work exactly where they need to be trained.
Real results since 2013 – Koru K9 was founded in San Francisco. Over the years, we have help thousands of Bay Area dogs and their parents transform their lives together.
Owner coaching included – We train YOU as much as your dog, because lasting success starts at the other end of the leash.
Our dog trainers are all hand-selected by Koru K9’s owners. All our dog trainers are highly experienced, dedicated, and successful trainers who have met our intensive screening process.

Ashley is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, but has lived all over at this point. She has been training dogs for almost a decade now, originally getting started by working with psychiatric and medical alert & response service dogs. Ashley is a graduate of the Tarheel Canine School for Dog Trainers, where she had the privilege of working with and learning from the top trainers in the industry. She obtained her Master Dog Trainer certification with concentration in the areas of obedience/behavior modification, detection, tracking, and patrol. There she was able to have hands-on experience with military and police working dogs, personal protection dogs, and severe behavior modification cases within the pet program. She still works closely with local police departments, as well as with the MWD’s on JBLM. She is also certified as a Pet Nutrition Coach through the North American Veterinary Community.
Her favorite part about dog training is teaching owner’s how to effectively communicate with their dogs and seeing the relief that comes from breaking through behavioral issues. She loves seeing dogs thrive and being able to live their lives to the fullest after training. Ashley has experience working with potty training, excessive fearfulness, leash reactivity, human and dog aggression, and everything in between.
Ashley competes in PSA (Protection Sports Association) and American Schutzhund, with her Malinois, Ronan. He has his PSA 1 and AS-BT, going for his PSA 2 title this year. Ronan is also trained in narcotics detection and human odor tracking. Outside of dogs, Ashley is a bodybuilder competing in the NPC Figure division.
