## Frequently asked questions
How much does it usually cost to train a dog?+
Every program is custom to your dog and your goals. Board & train programs start at $3,900 for three weeks, and in-home coaching is priced by session or discounted package. A free 30-minute phone consultation gets you an exact recommendation and quote.
What age is best to start dog training?+
The moment your dog comes home. Puppies learn fastest during the early socialization window (16 weeks to 6 months), but our core philosophy is any dog, any breed, any problem — adult and senior dogs make dramatic transformations too.
What happens if you never train your dog?+
Small problems compound. Untreated pulling becomes reactivity, uncertainty becomes anxiety, and boundary-testing becomes behavior you can't live with. Structure and clear communication early prevent the issues owners most often call us about later.
What is the difference between Board & Train and In-Home Private Training?+
Board & train is an immersive reset: your dog lives in a professional trainer's home for several weeks of round-the-clock structure. In-home training coaches you directly in your own environment. Hybrid programs combine both.
Can you help with aggressive or reactive dogs?+
Yes — severe behavior is our specialty. We work with human and dog aggression, bite histories, resource guarding and leash reactivity using a balanced, safety-first rehabilitation plan.
Can you help with rescue dogs who have unknown past trauma?+
Absolutely. Rescues thrive on predictable structure, calm leadership and confidence-building. We help your new dog decompress, settle in and trust again — wherever they started from.
What kind of methodology do you subscribe to?+
We do not 'side' ourselves with any one approach, as every dog is different. We will choose a path and use the tools that are right for you and your dog. We will show you how to properly use these training tools. Unfortunately, there is a lot of mis-information and plenty of opinions out there when it comes to dog training. Beware of any trainer that tells you that their way is the only way to train a dog!
Do you use treats to train dogs?+
Yes, we are balanced trainers — which means that we don't adhere to one specific method. We work with your dog to find out what motivates them. One size does not fit all — dogs are unique in their likes and dislikes, just like humans. Some dogs aren't very food motivated, and prefer play, toys, praise, etc.
Why do you use e-collars and/or prong collars?+
Modern E-Collar training is the most safe, humane, effective and reliable training tool available today. We use low-level, communication-style, modern E-Collar training. We use prong collars because we find them to be the best tool for connecting and communicating with the dog with the least amount of physical stress to the dog and owner. Most tools tend to only mask or manage the behavior, while the prong collar allows us to actually break through and effortlessly communicate, creating a vastly different state of mind and a highly responsive dog. When used correctly, they have been proven to be the least physically taxing, most humane, and one of the safest tools available.
