Your dog. Your questions.
Questions about your dog’s board and train program?
You’re choosing someone to care for a dog you love. Here’s what to know about the training, their stay, and the support you’ll have when they come home.
Can dog board and train help with leash pulling and jumping on people?
Yes. Leash manners and calmer greetings are common goals for our dog board and train programs. A professional dog trainer looks at what’s driving the behavior and teaches your dog useful alternatives, such as walking with their handler, keeping four paws on the floor, or settling in a designated place. We tailor the plan to your dog and coach you on continuing the training at home.
Is dog boot camp the same as a boarding and training program?
People often use “dog boot camp,” “board and train,” and “boarding and training” when searching for a residential dog training program. What matters is how the program works. At Koru K9, your dog lives in a professional dog trainer’s loving home, follows a customized plan, and learns at their own pace. Owner coaching helps you bring that learning into your relationship and daily routines.
Where will my dog stay, and how much individual care will they receive?
Your dog stays in the loving home of a carefully vetted, highly experienced professional dog trainer. Each professional dog trainer cares for a maximum of five client dogs at a time. Individual training is woven into a day with exercise, play, structure, rest, and affection. We discuss your dog’s needs and placement before their stay, and regular progress updates help you stay connected.
How long does a board and train program take for pulling and jumping?
Our standard board and train programs run three, four, or six weeks. The right length depends on your dog’s behavior, history, and training goals, including whether pulling or jumping comes with other concerns. We’ll explain the recommended plan before you book. During the program, your professional dog trainer builds skills and introduces distractions at your dog’s pace.
How much does Koru K9’s dog boarding and training cost?
Standard board and train programs start at $3,900 for three weeks, $4,800 for four weeks, and $6,800 for six weeks. Your dog’s needs, program, and location determine the recommendation and total cost. We’ll explain what’s included, the coaching you’ll receive, and your total price before you book. Explore our Board & Train programs for more details.
What training methods will you use with my dog?
Our balanced, relationship-based approach combines rewards with clear communication and consistent boundaries. We learn what motivates your dog—food, toys, play, or praise—and tailor the plan to their needs. Training may include leash guidance, prong collars, or low-level e-collars. Your professional dog trainer explains the plan and coaches you in using the selected tools and skills. Learn about our dog training approach.
Will my dog listen to me when they come home?
Helping you communicate with your dog is a central part of the program. During your go-home lesson, a professional dog trainer guides you through the cues, handling, and routines your dog has learned. Follow-up lessons, phone and email support, and 12 months of LunaDogAI help you build on that foundation. You’ll have a practical plan for practicing together and support as questions come up.
Can a board and train program work with my busy schedule?
Yes, a board and train program can be a helpful option when your dog needs focused professional training and your days are already full. We include pick-up and drop-off and help you build manageable practice into things you already do, like walks and greetings. Your go-home lesson, follow-up coaching, and LunaDogAI give you guidance as those skills become part of daily life.
What if my dog also barks, lunges, or seems fearful on walks?
Tell us about those concerns when we discuss your dog. Koru K9 also works with reactivity, fear, anxiety, resource guarding, and aggression. We look at your dog’s history, triggers, and needs so the plan addresses more than leash manners alone. A professional dog trainer builds trust, introduces challenges at your dog’s pace, and coaches you on handling the situations you encounter together.
How do I find out which dog training program is right for us?
Tell the Koru K9 team about your dog, the behaviors that worry or frustrate you, and what you’d like life together to look like. We’ll discuss your goals, program options, location, and next steps. Whether the right fit is dog board and train, private in-home lessons, or a hybrid program, we’ll help you understand the recommendation.
