Ready for real training?

Whether we’re your first choice or a last resort, Koru K9 will ensure that your canine companion is the perfect addition to your pack.

We have worked with two different trainers through Koru, Debbie and John, and had an excellent experience with both. Reggie, our rescue dog, is a 7yr old small terrier who came with a lot of reactivity and dog aggression issues. We had no idea what we were doing! After reading books on positive reinforcement training, I was very weary of using training tools like prong collars to work with his aggression, but Debbie helped us understand they were just another way to get his attention. She even had us put them on ourselves to ensure they wouldn’t torture the dog. She helped us learn how to manage his outbursts and how to be more confident when we walk him, which helped tremendously.

Our most recent experience was working with John Garcia. We needed to travel out of town and couldn’t find the right person to take care of him given his reactivity issues, so we signed up for the 3 week board and train. We were very anxious about being away from him for so long, but John walked us through all the ins and outs of what the experience would entail. He was responsive over text and sent videos once a week of his progress. When he came home, we were floored by his progress. He’s an older dog, so he will likely always have reactivity, but he now focuses on us and heels on walks. John worked some serious magic! We can’t recommend John, Debbie, and Koru enough. Yes, it’s expensive, but so worth the investment. Just be aware that YOU may need just as much training—if not more—as your dog companion!
